Verizon FiOS TV Has Landed
If you live in New Jersey, Verizon's FiOS TV is now available to approximately 250,000 households in parts of 106 communities in Bergen, Camden, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Passaic, Somerset and Union counties. FiOS TV fiber optic technology will soon be expanded to hundreds of thousands of additional households in more than 100 additional communities. Under the state's new streamlined video franchise law, Verizon has announced plans to offer FiOS TV over its all-fiber network in more than 300 communities in the next few years.
FiOS TV is designed to compete with cable and satellite and win. It is delivered over Verizon's fiber-to-the-premises network, which has industry-leading quality and reliability. The 100% Fiber Optic Technology delivers amazingly sharp pictures and sound, and has the capacity to transmit a wide array of high-definition programming that is so clear and intense it seems to leap from the TV screen. Verizon's network design includes backup facilities not common to traditional cable systems, such as duplicate "head ends" where the TV service receives national programming.
Verizon offers several different customizable packages. The FiOS TV Premier Package includes: Local channels such as ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX, Nearly 200 digital channels, 47 Music Choice channels, Must-have programming from ESPN, Discovery, TNT, USA, MTV, CNN and more! Extensive On Demand library with thousands of titles ? many available for free ? including kids programming, sports, news, pop culture, home & leisure.
Verizon also offers innovative features not available from other providers, such as Home Media DVR (digital video recorder) and FiOS TV Widgets. Home Media DVR has a multi-room DVR feature enabling up to three simultaneous viewings of recorded programs without requiring customers to set up a complex home network or buy extra equipment. Customers also can access photos and music on their PCs and play them on their TV. FiOS TV Widgets is a free interactive feature that provides viewers with local weather and traffic information while they're watching their favorite shows.
